The Art of Self-Care Before Your Boudoir Session
When clients book a boudoir session with me, I always encourage them to treat the days leading up to their shoot as a special opportunity for self-care.
Boudoir isn’t just about beautiful photos—it’s about honoring your body, your confidence, and your unique story. By incorporating holistic self-care practices before your session, you can step in feeling empowered, radiant, and fully present.
Write it Down…
One of my favorite ways to prepare is through journaling. Taking even 10–15 minutes a day to write about your thoughts, dreams, or affirmations can help you reconnect with your inner self.
Journaling allows you to reflect on what makes you feel strong and beautiful, which naturally translates into your boudoir experience. I often suggest writing down a few positive affirmations about your body or celebrating small wins—anything that reminds you of your worth and power.
Peaceful Reflection…
Meditation is another practice that can make a noticeable difference before your shoot. Even a brief daily meditation session can help calm nerves, ease stress, and center your mind. By creating space to breathe and focus inward, you’ll arrive at your session with a serene and confident energy. If meditation feels intimidating, start with guided sessions or simply spend a few minutes visualizing yourself feeling confident and radiant in front of the camera.

Expressive Play…
Engaging in hobbies can also boost your confidence and emotional well-being. Whether it’s painting, dancing, cooking, or crafting, creative expression allows you to connect with yourself in joyful, authentic ways. These activities remind you that beauty isn’t just physical—it’s a feeling that radiates from how you embrace your passions and individuality.

Body Bliss…
Another simple yet powerful self-care tip is to move your body in ways that feel good. This doesn’t have to mean a rigorous workout—gentle yoga, stretching, or a calming walk outside can help release tension and enhance body awareness.
Feeling comfortable and in tune with your body is key to posing naturally and confidently during your boudoir session.
Ultimately, these self-care practices are about nurturing yourself and stepping into your shoot with intention. When you honor your emotional and physical well-being in the days leading up to your boudoir session, you bring a sense of empowerment that shines through in every photograph.
Remember, boudoir is as much about celebrating your inner strength as it is capturing your outer beauty. By embracing self-care rituals like journaling, meditation, creative hobbies, and mindful movement, you’ll feel prepared, confident, and unapologetically yourself in front of the camera.
