What To Expect For Your Maternity Photoshoot
Your day begins with professional hair and makeup, giving you a chance to slow down and simply enjoy being taken care of for a little while.
From there, we’ll choose wardrobe pieces that flatter your changing body and reflect the vision we’ve created together. Whether you’re wearing one of my gorgeous maternity gowns, something from your own closet, or flowing fabrics for an underwater session, every detail is thoughtfully planned with you in mind.
During your session, I’ll guide every pose and movement so you never have to wonder what to do. All at your own pace because I know growing a human from scratch can be exhausting!
No modeling experience is required. My job is to help you feel comfortable while creating artwork you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Maternity Photoshoot FAQ
While every woman and every pregnancy is different, generally speaking, between 28-32 weeks is the best time to schedule your Maternity Shoot.
This timeframe puts you out of the typical “nausea” period, your bump is typically beautifully round, and you’re not too close to your due date that an early arrival would interfere with the session.
Also, the bigger you get the more uncomfortable you get (speaking from experience!).

You’re welcome to wear your own clothing, but you’ll also have access to my carefully curated client wardrobe featuring beautiful gowns, flowing fabrics, bodysuits, and accessories that photograph beautifully and flatter your changing body. Many of my clients choose a combination of both, allowing their session to feel personal while taking advantage of pieces that were selected specifically for portrait photography.

If you’ve fallen in love with my boudoir-inspired or editorial maternity portraits, your session will take place in my private Syracuse studio. The studio offers a comfortable, welcoming space where we have complete control over lighting, privacy, and every artistic detail, allowing us to create everything from timeless, elegant portraits to bold, fashion-inspired imagery.
If you’re dreaming of something more connected to nature, we can create your maternity portraits outdoors at one of the many beautiful locations throughout Central New York. Whether it’s a peaceful field, a wooded trail, or a breathtaking waterfall, we’ll choose a location that complements your vision and the season you’re celebrating.
For something truly one of a kind, I also offer underwater maternity photography at a private pool. Depending on the time of year and the look you’re after, sessions can take place in either an indoor or outdoor pool, creating ethereal, fine art portraits unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

Your partner is welcome to be part of some or all of your session, whether you’re envisioning quiet, intimate moments together or simply a handful of portraits that celebrate this chapter you’re stepping into as a family.
If you already have children, they’re welcome to join your editorial, outdoor, and underwater maternity sessions as well. Some families choose to begin with everyone together before finishing with a few portraits of just mom, while others include their children throughout the entire experience. We’ll design your session around what feels most meaningful to you.
For boudoir-inspired maternity sessions, I recommend keeping the experience focused solely on you with or without your partner (no kids for this one). These portraits are intentionally designed to celebrate your personal journey through pregnancy in a more artistic, feminine, and intimate setting, creating a quiet space to honor this extraordinary chapter before your little one arrives.
